The Dutch straw bale association:

As you might have gathered by now the informal Dutch SB network is slowly being transformed into a pukka association with a formal constitution. Open for orders!! There are a number of reasons to formalize the Dutch SB activities.

  • Centralization will bundle available resources and information.
  • Take part and represent the Dutch association as a full partner in an international network of affiliated associations.
  • As a formally recognizable association we can exert more pressure on public institutions.

    • What does Strobouw NL do?

    The association supports projects, stimulates the building of houses, organize/support workshops, give consultancy, educate, mediate, promote etc.. The activities focus on networking, lobbying and the supply of information. The association sets SB quality standards, and is recognized as the SB authority in the Netherlands.

    What are the aims?

    In The Netherlands;
    A creative, more adventuresome approach to housing where the home owner gets more influence in realizing his own dream house.
    International;
    We support community building projects. This will mainly take place through international co-operation.

    Strobouw NL's place in the Dutch eco-friendly building scene.

    SB has its own specific magic having the ability to endear and empower. This aspect should be nurtured whilst creating a commercially viable approach. Strobouw NL takes care of creating a serious profile for SB, in co-operation with other VIBA groups and other non VIBA groups like cob builders. The establishment of professional SB builders and building contractors practiced in SB is stimulated. Easy accessibility and the social aspect should however always be kept in mind.
